Bluegrass for Beginners Music Camp at Mojave
Narrows Regional Park, Victorville, CA is a new music

and Kathy Barwick (guitar) with a band
workshop by Dry Branch Fire Squad on Friday
morning, June 14. Designed for beginners and

Beginners camp provides a painless and fun way to get
more deeply involved in bluegrass and to enjoy
playing music with others.

mornings and early afternoons in bluegrass banjo,
fiddle, guitar and mandolin with electives also
offered in such topics as harmony singing, jam
etiquette, music theory, Repertoire and bluegrass
history. Late afternoons and evenings will be feature
student jamming and faculty concerts.
The camp is designed for beginning and "low
intermediate" level players who have already
started on their instrument (for example: guitar,
mandolin and banjo players should already know a few
chords while fiddlers should know how to hold a bow.
etc). The Bluegrass for Beginners camp is ideal for
those with little to no experience playing in a
group, as the camp will focus on painlessly learning
the skills needed to successfully play with others in
a jam or group situation. Participants must bring
their own instrument and accessories (strap, extra
strings, recording equipment, music stands, if
needed) to camp.
Bluegrass for Beginners begins at 9 a.m. on
Wednesday, June 12 and ends at 12 noon on Friday,
June 14. Meals are included with lunch and dinner
